Samsung has reported sales of 10 million for its flagship Galaxy S III smartphone, released in in Australia and globally in late May.
Samsung president Shin Jong-kyun told Korean news agency Yohap News the figure translated into around 190,000 Galaxy S II smartphones sold everyday.
In contrast, market leader Apple reported sales of 4 million for its iPhone 4S in just three days after its launch in October last year.
The Galaxy S II has been rolled out to 140 countries around the world.
Samsung's telecommunications vice president Tyler McGee said at the local May 31 launch the smartphone was Samsung's "2012 hero".
He said the company had sold 40 million Galaxy S and Galaxy S II units, and was expecting the Galaxy S III to similarly perform.
“We broke many records last year and we are continuing to do so this year,” McGee said.
According to Samsung, its Asia Pacific smartphone business grew 340 percent last quarter from the previous quarter, and currently holds 45 percent market share.
