South Korean electronics giant Samsung intends to launch two new Windows Phone 8 devices featuring large screens and 1.5GHz dual-core processors.
The two phones, named Odyssey and Marco, were outed in the court battle between Samsung and Apple currently underway in California, which is centred around patents and design issues.
According to court documents, both phones will use Qualcomm's MSM8960 chip set - a system-on-a-chip integrated circuit with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, as first reported by The Verge.
The chips are LTE capable, but it is not known yet if the phones are only compatible with the United States variant of the next-generation mobile broadband standard.
Samsung's Odyssey will have a large 4.65in Super AMOLED screen with HD or 720-pixel resolution, and an 8MP camera. The Marco is smaller with a 4in Super AMOLED screen, with 480 by 800 pixel resolution and a 5MP camera.
Near-field communications is said to be featured in the Odyssey, complementing Microsoft's Tap and Send feature for data transfer and Wallet for payments in Windows Phone 8.
Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 operating system was launched mid-June. HTC, Nokia and Huawei will join Samsung as the first vendors to release hardware running the OS.
