NBN Co discovers ordering system issue

New connection orders go missing in action.

NBN Co has blamed an issue with its ordering system for the network connection issues of residents in Maroochydore's Emporio apartment complex.

The Sunshine Coast Daily reported that residents of the complex had been left without phone and internet services for up to three months, despite fibre being rolled into the development.

The report identified an issue with NBN field technicians not attending the site on multiple occasions.

NBN Co told CRN sister site iTnews that the issue was in its ordering system. "The orders were received but didn't progress as they should," a spokeswoman explained.

"Contributing to this was the fact the network terminating devices had been pre-installed in the [Emporio] premises but not activated.

"We have now identified the cause and are implementing a solution. We expect to have this issue resolved internally today so the orders can progress."

The NBN Co spokeswoman said it would ask service providers impacted by the ordering issue to resubmit orders for new connections to the network.

"We will work with them to coordinate new appointments," she said.
