iiNet has unveiled plans to launch 4G services in the coming months on the back of Optus' recently launched Long Term Evolution network.
The Perth-based service provider claimed it was the first mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) to sign a wholesale agreement with Optus to resell Optus LTE services.
"It makes sense for us to introduce one of the fastest wireless broadband services available and it supports our growth strategy to offer more to each of our customers," iiNet CEO Michael Malone said.
Though it was yet to release the details of the service, it will likely offer similar mobile services to existing iiNet mobile and fixed broadband customers.
Malone has previously downplayed the ISP's mobile ambitions as an add-on service, rather than a direct customer acquisition strategy.
It follows the launch of Optus' consumer LTE network in Perth, Sydney and Newcastle last month. Melbourne customers also gained access to the LTE network in select areas over the weekend.
Virgin Mobile also launched its own 4G plans at the same time as Optus' network launch.
An Optus spokesman said new agreements would be required for the new wholesale LTE product but could not confirm if the product would have differences in speed or technical capability compared to Optus' own retail product.
iiNet is planning a hotspot and mobile phone launch with LTE compatibility as well as other devices in future.
