Google’s Nexus 4 smartphone went back on sale yesterday, but not even 24 hours later stock has once again been exhausted through the web giant's Play store.
The LG-built smartphone has experienced two brief stints on the market since it first arrived in Australia last November. At launch it was available solely through the Google Play store and sold out in minutes.
It came back online yesterday and was available for pre-order with a 2-3 week wait for shipment. The 16GB model sold out in hours, while at the time of writing, the 8GB model is still available for pre-order.
Last week LG announced the Nexus 4 would retail through Harvey Norman stores — at a 25 percent markup.
The 16GB model, sold for $399 on the Play store, is offered from Harvey Norman for $496. It is also available on a range of Optus plans up to $130 a month.
LG said the change in price reflected the added costs required to sell a product in store, citing staffing, distribution, point of sale and marketing.
The 4.7in Nexus 4 houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip, 2GB RAM, 8MP back and 1.3MP front camera, a 2100mAh battery and runs on the latest version of Android, Jelly Bean.
Google has consistently declined to comment on how much stock it has moved and when the smartphone would go back on sale.
