Acer Computer Australia has won a contract with Victorian Parliament, which will be deployed in conjunction with Commander.
Although the value of the contract was undisclosed, under terms of the win the vendor will deploy 400 'Veriton 1000' ultra small form factor computers over the next month in partnership with Commander.
Mike Cefai, general manager government, education and corporate sales at Acer said the vendor has a close relationship with Commander Communications and leverages its statewide presence and unique understanding of local government culture.
“Whole of Government contracts has become popular with state governments and a major focus for Acer,” said Cefai. “Acer partners also have a lot to gain from these wins as the majority of fulfilment is via the Acer commercial channel network,” concluded Cefai.
The 'Veriton 1000' was chosen by Victorian Parliament for being one of the smallest form factor PCs in the world. The Veriton 1000 addresses OH&S issues and gives back much needed desk space to Parliamentary employees.
Additionally, the Parliament will utilise the convenience of Intel vPro technology to significantly improve their ability to manage over 150 remote sites, said Cefai.
The vendor has also won a contract to continue its supply to the Victorian Police department.
The department recently conducted a market test and confirmed a major refresh of the contract for Acer to supply the 'Veriton 5900' and 'Travelmate 6592G' products, over a 6 month period, from July to December 2007.
According to Cefai the contract is estimated to be worth around $10 million.
