1. Vocus buys Amcom
Not only did this deal create a national telco with a $1.3 billion market cap at the time, but it also rolled in IT services. Vocus brought together 244 staff and operations covering networks, data centre, internet and voice with Amcom’s 366-person operation in Perth, Adelaide and Darwin.
It is yet to be seen how much focus the combined company will give its IT integration unit, which came from Amcom’s $15 million-dollar buyout of L7 Solutions several years ago. As reported by CRN, revenue in that business had fallen.
