Flash player: Advent One & IBM
Graeme Clark, Advent One

With its head office in the IBM Centre in Melbourne, Advent One has been working with the vendor since it launched in 2000, says Graeme Clark, managing director, Advent One

Advent One has been an IBM Business Partner since our inception in 2000 and is one of the few business partners that deals exclusively in IBM merchandise. We choose IBM because they provide the best products, people and services for us and the way we want to do business.

Since the acquisition of IBM flash storage technology, Advent One has been able to rapidly adopt and sell the technology to our customers. We were able to facilitate and achieve the very first flash sale in Australia to a large grocery wholesale distributor. Our customers are responding to the sheer speed flash storage achieves and the dramatic impact it can have on removing data bottlenecks, improving application performance, receiving information much quicker and making more accurate and relevant decisions. The rapidity with which flash storage technology has gained traction and growth has really been a surprise to us. New products usually have a teething period to navigate through but flash storage has made a clear impact almost immediately.

Building on the large grocery wholesale distributor above, they have commented on the transformation flash storage has had on their business. The value of having real-time information to power business intelligence has been especially telling. Making decisions on current data has transformed our clients’ business. As a partner, IBM’s advantages include strong products and services and valuable programs. Its partnering with resellers and clients provides excellent business opportunities, the best people and resources to foster client relationships.

Having a clear and understandable vision and way to deliver a product to market is what enables IBM to provide the most superior technology available. IBM flash technology has the best levels of efficiency, performance and reliability, coupled with a proven track record of innovation and excellence to add up to a true all-flash solution. IBM can now offer a complete set of server and storage flash products directly to the worldwide mainstream market.

Some of the advantages of IBM flash technology include the fact it is easy to use with an excellent software stack; it includes both eMLC and SLC technology creating more longevity and performance and it has low power usage.
