Which UC solutions do you deploy?
Alcatel, Broadsoft, Cisco, Vidyo and integrate with Microsoft Lync.
When did your company first get involved in UC?
We have been providing UC solutions for the past two-and-a-half years.
Which UC certifications and/or credentials does your company have?
Engineers within our business hold the necessary certification level (ie specialist, silver, etc.) with each of the providers listed above to deliver these services.
Who are your main distributors for UC technologies?
Dicker Data and Westcon.
What cool or interesting recent UC technology have you heard of lately?
Our video partner, Vidyo, is disrupting the UC space as its software is compatible with iOS, Android, H.323 and SIP systems, meaning you can connect with other vendor equipment - even collaborate using Google Hangouts and Microsoft Lync integration. Testimony to this is their recent deployment for the US Department of Defense.
Can you tell us about a recent UC deployment you have done?
The most interesting UC deployment is a trial we are currently running for an architecture client of ours that integrates voice (Broadsoft), UC client (Microsoft Lync) and video (Vidyo). The end user is only exposed to the Microsoft Lync client (via Citrix). However, in the background the Lync client uses the telephony platform to make external calls (i.e. to a mobile) and uses Vidyo middleware to improve the video quality within the Microsoft Lync client.
What is driving customers’ UC projects?
The communication efficiencies that UC enables both internally and externally (with customers and partners) is a major attraction. Also moving to a consistent user experience no matter where or how the staff are working is a major plus.
An obvious efficiency tool for any distributed business to greatly enhance communications internally and externally while giving the platform the ability to enable improved customer service.
