Cybersecurity platform Acronis has hired Terry Christie as its general manager for ANZ as the company continues its focus on growth through local expertise and strong partner engagement.

With more than 25 years in the IT and cybersecurity industry, Christie told CRN Australia that he has always gravitated towards roles that combine innovation with strong channel engagement.

"What excited me most about this opportunity was the company’s unique position at the intersection of cybersecurity and data protection,” he said.

“The unified platform Acronis offers — integrating backup, disaster recovery, endpoint protection, and advanced cybersecurity — is exactly what today’s service providers and businesses need. It’s rare to find a company so well aligned with where the market is heading, and I was eager to contribute to that mission in the ANZ region.”

As General Manager, he will be responsible for shaping regional strategy, scaling operations, and driving collaboration across Australia and New Zealand—particularly in helping service providers deliver modern cyber protection through integrated security and remote monitoring and management (RMM) capabilities.

Christie has previously held senior roles at Nitro, Aruba (HPE), Commvault, IBM, Lenovo, Samsung Electronics, and Ingram Micro.

He emphasised how important the channel is to Acronis’ growth.

“Our success is directly tied to the success of our partners, which is why we continue to invest in programs, incentives, and local resources to support them,” Christie said.

“Whether it’s through the Acronis #TeamUp Program, technical enablement, or joint go-to-market initiatives, everything we do is about helping our partners thrive.

“Having led channel teams across IBM, Commvault, Aruba, and Nitro, I know firsthand that strong relationships and clear value alignment make all the difference — and that’s exactly what we aim to deliver at Acronis.”

Christie explained his focus over the next year is on these key priorities: strengthening relationships with their existing partners, expanding their footprint though new strategic partnerships, and accelerating the adoption of their AI-powered cyber protection platform.

“We’ll continue investing in local enablement, training, and go-to-market support to help our partners grow,” he said.

“I’m also keen to bring more visibility to the value of Acronis’ integrated approach, particularly in helping MSPs streamline operations, reduce complexity, and enhance security outcomes for their customers.”
