Craig McGregor steps into director of alliances role at MyCISO
He discusses his new role, opportunities and international expansion of the software vendor.
Security management platform MyCISO has appointed Craig McGregor as its new director of alliances.
In his new role, McGregor told CRN Australia exclusively that he will be setting up partner strategy working internally and externally to achieve their goals.
“Specifically, it includes things like building and executing joint plans with key partners, partner recruitment, demand generation campaigns.
“Ensuring our partners are enabled in our platform in a way that encourages them to proactively include our offerings in their broader solution stack,” he said.
“In turn, if we achieve the above, the partners that invest in building capabilities around the MyCISO platform will significantly benefit from that investment.”
McGregor added, “My goal is to ensure our key partners' business with us grows in an exponential and profitable way that leads them to genuinely want to invest further in helping us drive mass customer adoption.”
Previously he was the director of partner and alliances at Okta ANZ, looking at this new role for MyCISO, he said the opportunity was “unique and compelling”.
“For a company that is still in the ‘start up phase’, the customer adoption and growth has been phenomenal,” he said.
“I was impressed by the customer value proposition - our platform enables customers to manage their security program in a smarter and simpler way by unifying cyber maturity, supplier risk and culture management. We help security leaders lead more effectively.”
McGregor said he has the opportunity to enhance and lead the charge on MyCISO’s partner strategy.
“The opportunity to make a real difference to the company is why I am incredibly excited to join the team,” he noted.
McGregor said he is excited to be a part of a something that is growing and is critical to customers and partners.
“Being in an environment where the partner view is genuinely at the centre of everything we do,” he said.
“Working with a team that is clearly passionate about what they do and committed to winning in the market. And ultimately making a real difference to the growth of MyCISO.”
New opportunities
Looking at his previous roles, McGregor said they were more about managing existing programs and processes that were set elsewhere.
“MyCISO is an Australian organisation, and I sit on the leadership team that makes the decisions on what, why and how we do things,” he said.
“I expect this will give me a larger platform to make a real difference to not only our business but to the businesses of our key partners.
“For example, if our key partners request a change in our partner program we will be able to assess that request quickly, and make that decision to implement if it makes sense. I am excited by the ability to make real changes quickly when they are needed.”
There are also international expansion plans for the brand.
“I am sure that phase will provide me with opportunities that I haven't personally had the opportunity to be involved in in the past,” he said.
Future plans
For the next year, McGregor noted that he wants MyCISO to have a more established "route to market" strategy in place.
“This ensures that customers can procure and consume our technology in any way that they wish,” he said.
“We are well on our way to achieving this, but still have some work in some areas to achieve this.”
He also hopes that MyCISO would be increasingly important to a number of their key partners.
“Their business would have grown with MyCISO and our activity levels with customers via these partners will be even more than it is today,” he explained.
Internally, McGregor noted that he has already been very impressed with the ‘partner centric’ view of everyone at MyCISO.
“But in 12 months we will have advanced our team's experience with and knowledge of partners, ensuring that we are in a better position to make sure our partners investment in MyCISO is enhanced even further than they are today,” he said.
“All of these focus areas will result in significant growth for both MyCISO and our partner community.”
