Greenbox bolster operations to tackle e-waste with EraseIT acquisition
The move adds new locations and widens its network of clients across Australia and New Zealand.
Greenbox Group has acquired device disposal specialist EraseIT from Interactive to improve systems for tackling e-waste.
Greenbox helps organisations manage technology assets, including data centre equipment, laptops, audio visual equipment and smart devices such as tablets and mobile phones.
“We were drawn to EraseIT due to our shared focus, complementary operations and the synergies offered for building world-leading circular economy practices,” Ross Thompson, CEO, Greenbox Group said.
The deal brings EraseIT’s operations into Greenbox, expanding its footprint across new locations and widening its network of Australasian clients. It follows the acquisition of Remark IT in New Zealand last year.
“This milestone in the business' evolution will mean EraseIT is better positioned to manage market challenges ahead, can service customers more fully and will be part of a strong entity taking the lead in CleanTech innovation in the circular economy,” Thompson told CRN Australia.
It ushers in a new growth phase for both companies, which are part of the $2 trillion clean technology transformation.
“The acquisition further strengthens both companies and positions the group as Australasia’s leading CleanTech provider,” Thompson said.
Greenbox partners with businesses to future-proof technology deployments and lead the way in ethical asset recovery. It has prevented more than 106 million kg of CO₂ from being released into the atmosphere and diverted more than 330,000 kg of toxic metals from landfill.
The business also helps companies to decarbonise, including reducing their Scope 3 emissions from across their entire value chain through carbon-neutral services.
The IT lifecycle management business has been certified carbon-neutral in Australia and New Zealand and holds multiple certifications for sustainable electronics recycling.
“Greenbox is a CleanTech innovator with global clients, leverages AI and proprietary analytics, and was the first in the sector to be certified carbon neutral,” he said.
E-waste is the fastest growing global waste stream — and ICT equipment and generative AI’s expansion are some of the largest contributors to this rapid growth. As a result, sustainability is now a driving force shaping the expectations of clients, regulators and communities alike.
“As corporate citizens we are all responsible for addressing this global challenge,” he said.
Thompson said Greenbox is looking forward to combining both businesses' capabilities and providing a more effective customer service with its combined teams, facilities and sales teams.
“Businesses entrust Greenbox because they want to be certain their technology upgrades and decommissioning leaves a positive impact, not a burden,” he ended.
