Mike King returns to Macquarie Telecom as national sales director
Telco sales veteran is seeking growth and partner collaboration to position Macquarie as true challenger brand.
Mike King has returned to Macquarie Telecom as national sales director, with a remit to expand the challenger telco’s local footprint.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to Macquarie Telecom at this stage of my career, and eager and ready to put my experience and industry insights to work,” he said.
King was most recently head of enterprise and government sales with TPG and has held senior sales director roles with NTT Communications ICT Solutions, Optus and Macquarie.
The role spans technology and security services, with King working across the wider Macquarie business to drive growth. Channel partners will be integral to expanding Macquarie’s reach, taping into new markets and delivering greater value to customers.
“The collaboration allows us to offer more comprehensive and innovative solutions, strengthen customer relationships and drive mutual growth and success,” he said.
King said larger telcos are falling short of customers’ expectations and retreating back from services customers have become reliant on.
Seeing the opportunity, Macquarie is investing in SD-WAN, SASE, cybersecurity and cloud to deliver value and capture market share.
“There’s huge opportunity to strengthen our connections with MSPs, resellers and consultants in these areas,” he told CRN Australia.
He believes channel partners can also help customers by offering a more personalised, responsive service that big telcos often fail to provide.
“This cuts through frustrations and creates a more positive, trusted and customer-centric experience, addressing the specific pain points and providing a higher level of customer satisfaction,” he said.
In the year ahead, King wants to achieve significant customer and partner growth, explore new opportunities for collaboration and unlock value for customers, partners and Macquarie Telecom.
“That not only means expanding our customer base but also strengthening our partner relationships,” he said.
He wants to position Macquarie as Australia’s true challenger brand and redefine what customers expect, driven by innovation, customer satisfaction and excellence.
“Our goal is to consistently deliver superior value and service our competitors can’t match,” he said.
