Tech Data MD Andy Berry retires, Robbie Upcroft to step into role

Berry to retire effective July 4.

Andy Berry, senior director and country general manager, ANZ at Tech Data Advanced Solutions Australia & New Zealand will retire next month.

On July 4, Berry’s retirement will take affect and Robbie Upcroft, current cloud business unit leader for ANZ will be his replacement.

According to the company, Berry and Upcroft will be working closely over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

Berry told CRN Australia, "After a long and fulfilling career, I felt the time was right to step back and enjoy retirement. I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved as a team, and I leave knowing the business is in a strong position for the future.”

Upcroft said he is “excited” to step into the general manager role and build on the strong foundation Berry has laid.

“My focus will be on driving innovation, growing the business sustainably, and strengthening relationships across our ecosystem,” he said.

“A key part of my vision is to continue our strategic focus on the high growth technologies portfolio — particularly through initiatives like Marketplace and our suite of innovative platforms and tools that empower our partners and vendors. I’m committed to ensuring we stay aligned with market opportunities and continue delivering exceptional value."

Sundar K, VP and country general manager for ANZ and India, Tech Data, Asia Pacific and Japan said, “Since joining Tech Data in 2023, Upcroft’s strategic vision and leadership has brought our Cloud business from strength-to-strength.

“With over two decades of industry experience, we are confident that Upcroft will bring a positive impact to our ANZ operations.”

He added, “I would also like to express the organisation’s gratitude to Berry for his outstanding contributions to Tech Data during his five years with us. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”

Berry has a long standing career working in the printing and technology industry. He has held several executive leadership positions at Xerox Global Services, Fuji Xerox Australia, and Ricoh Australia.

He began his role at Tech Data Australia and New Zealand in 2020.
