Australian distributor Wavelink is expanding operations into New Zealand, appointing Danny Meadows as regional manager, with a new local team to support the NZ arm of the business.

Wavelink has worked with New Zealand-based partners for more than 20 years and has built a small, dedicated partner base. This move is aimed at strengthening local partner and vendor relationships and expanding its vendor portfolio.

Meadows, to be based in Auckland, will draw on his understanding of the local market and network of partner and vendor relationships with the goal of replicating its channel-led success in New Zealand.

“Wavelink’s unique approach to distribution will be a huge selling point to open doors to channel partners,” he said.

Its entry into New Zealand coincides with increased demand from global vendors for consistent coverage and capability across the ANZ region.

In particular, vendors and partners are increasingly seeking value-based distributors to help educate and support channel growth. The company believes its business model will resonate in New Zealand.

“Wavelink’s reputation for delivering genuine channel value and its strong portfolio of vendors make this an ideal time to launch a local presence in New Zealand,” Meadows said.

The business is seeing strong demand for cybersecurity, mobility, storage and networking technologies across a range of sectors and it wants to offer targeted solutions, enablement, training and support services.

“Expanding into New Zealand is a key part of Wavelink’s regional growth strategy … and this investment reflects [our] commitment to meeting that demand with the right people and support,” said Wavelink CEO, Ilan Rubin.

The business is going all-in on the local expansion and is set to expand its vendor line up and its range of technical, marketing and educational capabilities targeted to the New Zealand market.

At present, the vendor list includes Censys, Claroty, Garland Technology, Honeywell, Orca Security, Penguin Solutions, SOTI, Spectralink, and Swimlane and Wavelink plans to add more in the coming months.

It expects the expansion to help channel partners accelerate deal cycles, meet evolving customer requirements and improve their competitive edge in the local market.

Meadows will oversee onboarding and enablement programs to support partners from the outset.

“Having Danny on the ground gives Wavelink the ability to provide a more consistent and dedicated partner experience and meet the growing expectations of the vendor community,” Rubin ended.
