Ingram Micro has added cybersecurity outfit AlgoSec to its vendor line-up, strengthening partner solutions to secure hybrid cloud networks across Australia and New Zealand.

AlgoSec specialises in application-centric security management and automation for hybrid networks, including public and private cloud, containers and on-premises environments.

“This collaboration enables partners to drive efficiency and compliance in the market,” said Amanda O’Brien, Ingram Micro’s GM of HBA and cyber vendor management in Australia.

The Ingram Micro and AlgoSec arrangement will create a single platform for MSPs to manage cloud subscriptions and tap into cybersecurity services. It complements Ingram Micro’s existing vendors and offers value to partners invested in Fortinet or Palo Alto.

MSPs will benefit because they’re managing environments across multiple vendors and AlgoSec makes that easier by taking the heavy lifting out of updates, patches and policy changes, according to O’Brien.

“This helps them work smarter, not harder, but the ROI isn’t just about time savings, it also improves error rates and that gives stronger security outcomes,” she told CRN.

MSPs under pressure to do more with less

At a time when MSPs are under pressure to extend coverage without cost implications, they’re looking for improvements in the service mix, according to O’Brien.

“With AlgoSec, they can automate security policies and troubleshoot faster, which will provide a better customer experience and avoid unnecessary work,” she said.

In addition, as more customers embrace hybrid and multi-cloud arrangements, they’re facing challenges with data sovereignty, compliance and operational complexity.

“This kind of visibility is particularly valuable in Australia where we see customers moving workloads into AWS and Azure, while needing to keep some on-prem for latency or sovereignty reasons,” she said.

Vendor virtualisation fuelling some cloud adoptions

In recent partner conversations, Ingram Micro is also finding the evolution of vendor virtualisation offerings is a factor in some cloud adoptions.

Offering on-prem firewalls, hypervisor cloud security controls and software-defined infrastructure, AlgoSec suits different environments.

“AlgoSec offers a policy and compliance layer that remains consistent, regardless of a customer staying on traditional hypervisors, replatforming, migrating to a public cloud or a mix of all of these,” O’Brien said.

“This is providing additional confidence in designing solutions across a multi-cloud architecture that are secure and compliant,” she added.

AlgoSec will use Ingram Micro’s Xvantage AI-driven digital platform to simplify solution deployment and enhance partner efficiency.

“This is a gamechanger for MSPs that are looking to scale and embed security into their broader service offerings,” she said.
