LevelBlue has completed its acquisition of cybersecurity firm Cybereason in a move to strengthen its position to be the world’s largest pure-play managed security services provider.

According to the MSP, the completed acquisition bolsters LevelBlue’s leadership in managed detection and response (MDR), incident response, and cybersecurity consulting.

As part of the completed transaction, SoftBank Corp., SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and Liberty Strategic Capital have become investors in LevelBlue.

Additionally, Steven T. Mnuchin, former US Treasury Secretary and managing partner, Liberty Strategic Capital, has joined LevelBlue’s board of directors.

Bob McCullen, chairman and CEO at LevelBlue told CRN Australia, “Cybereason brings industry-leading XDR technology, elite threat intelligence, and deep DFIR capabilities.

“Together, the combined organisation offers a more unified, AI-powered detection and response ecosystem, enabling LevelBlue to accelerate its strategy of delivering end-to-end cyber resilience across MDR, XDR, incident response, and consulting services.”

McCullen explained what will happen to staff now that the acquisition has been completed.

“As the integration progresses, LevelBlue will conduct careful planning to determine organisational structure and staffing needs, always with a focus on supporting clients and strengthening LevelBlue's capabilities,” he said.

McCullen said through this acquisition, LevelBlue aims to build one of the most complete and integrated cybersecurity platforms in the industry.

“By merging Cybereason’s advanced endpoint detection, AI innovations, and research capabilities with LevelBlue’s MDR, consulting, and incident response services, the company seeks to improve accuracy, speed, and effectiveness across all stages of threat detection and response,” he said.

“LevelBlue also intends to expand its global delivery capabilities and further solidify its role as a trusted, end-to-end partner for organisations seeking long-term resilience against evolving cyber threats.”

McCullen explained how this acquisition will help the company’s geographic expansion plans.

“LevelBlue intends to leverage Cybereason’s strong presence in Japan and broader footprint across North America, Europe, and Asia to deliver more localised cybersecurity services and support,” he said.

“By expanding regional delivery capabilities, the company aims to better serve multinational clients, deepen relationships with local enterprises and government organisations, and enhance regional threat intelligence by capturing insights from diverse markets.”

The completion of the Cybereason acquisition follows LevelBlue’s recent acquisitions of Trustwave, Stroz Friedberg, and Elysium Digital.
