Updated: Broadcom says partner program changes aligns with its strategy

The program will be shut down from October 31, 2025 with a reduction in partners.

Broadcom will be making changes to its Broadcom Advantage Partner Program for VMware partners later this year.

On October 31, it will be reducing the number of authorised partners across the region. This comes a month after, the company announced it would be dumping registered resellers in the APAC region.

“The streamlined Broadcom Advantage Partner Program for VMware resell partners announced last month will continue beyond October 31, 2025,” the company told CRN Australia in a statement.

“On July 15, 2025, Broadcom communicated directly to VMware Cloud Service Providers (VCSPs) that—with the exception of those in the European Economic Area—a new Cloud Service Provider program will take effect on November 1, 2025.”

Broadcom sent a statement to CRN Australia regarding the changes, noting its strategy since closing the VMware acquisition has been to “drive simplification, consistency, and innovation” across the VMware go to market ecosystem, including VMware Cloud Service Providers (VCSPs).

“Recent changes to this ecosystem are consistent with this strategy. Broadcom is focusing more and going deeper with the VCSPs who have demonstrated commitment to their cloud services built on VMware,” they said.

“This will enable us to deliver greater value, stronger execution, and a more streamlined experience for Broadcom’s VMware customers of all sizes and enable a truly competitive offering to the hyperscalers through our CSPs.”

The announcement, not made by either company, but one of its Australian partners, Interactive, highlighted that this move is to “align the VMware partner ecosystem with its strategic efforts and the needs of customers”.

There are five new changes coming to partners including a partner reduction, ending of the white label program, and shift towards hyperscale private compute.

According to a blog post from Interactive, the new program significantly reduces the number of authorised partners, being a by-invitation only program.

As a result, from July 15, VCSP partners who are not invited to participate in the new Program for VCSP partners will be sent a notice of non-renewal.

Broadcom will be gutting its White Label model on October 31, with no further information provided about why that is happening.

There will also be a transition period until the same data where non-invited partners can continue to transact until then.

After that date, no new commitment contracts or renewals will be accepted for those partners.

Broadcom said it is reshaping its vision for private compute, by which VMware Cloud Foundations 9 underpins a small number are hyperscale private cloud platforms in each region.

“A future where customers buy managed infrastructure from partners like Interactive to support their compute requirements,” the blog post noted.

The post also said departing partners are “encouraged” to work with authorised VCSP partners to ensure a smooth transition for customers who seek to renew a service at the end of their current term.

Those impacted VMware and Broadcom partners are encouraged to review existing contracts and SLAs, engage directly with the companies or an authorised partner, and assess strategic priorities and align with partners.

Interactive is an authorised VCSP partner under the updated Broadcom Advantage Partner Program framework.
