Virtual IT Group has acquired cybersecurity consultancy Security Centric bringing deeper security capabilities to its customers.

Security Centric brings expertise in MDR, GRC and advisory, security engineering and technical assurance.

Its team will join VITG’s expanding security practice, forming a combined group of approximately 45 cybersecurity specialists.

This deal will bring no changes to staff with Security Centric CEO, Sash Vasilevski stepping to the chief security officer role.

He told CRN Australia, “The opportunity to provide our industry‑recognised cybersecurity services to VITG’s 1,400+ customer base was very attractive.

“There is significant potential to substantially improve cybersecurity at scale as part of a whole‑of‑business managed service partnership.”

Maurice McCarthy, CEO at Virtual IT Group said the solution provider will be leveraging Security Centric’s renowned experience and capabilities for their customers as their security needs become more dynamic, demanding, and complex.

“The acquisition of Security Centric brings together the breadth and depth of end‑to‑end security capabilities, spanning managed SOC, security engineering, cyber governance, and penetration testing,” he said.

Vasilevski said this acquisition will bring various subject matter experts across ANZ together under a single security team.

“This will provide additional capability and capacity to our client base,” he said.

Through this deal, Vasilevski said they are enabling their clients to achieve tighter integration between traditional IT and cybersecurity functions, consolidating vendors and streamlining service delivery while maintaining depth and breadth of expertise.

“For existing customers, they will gain access to expanded capability that they can leverage as and when appropriate,” he said.

“For new customers, they will have simplified access to a single managed IT services and managed security services partner with deep specialisation. For the mid‑market, this is normally only achieved through engaging multiple vendors.”

VITG is an Australian founded MSP and MSSP with ten offices across Australia and New Zealand. It has more than 400 employees, supporting mid-market organisations and their business systems.

Virtual IT Group recently hired McCarthy as its new CEO earlier this year.
