How SourceFuse Australia helped Tuned Global establish a cloud-native data foundation
Content processing for Tuned Global expanded tenfold for the platform.
Global music technology company Tuned Global has modernised its platform as it focuses on becoming an AI-native music cloud platform.
The B2B Music cloud platform hosts licensed commercial music experiences for enterprises and DSPs across aviation, retail, telco, gaming, kids tech and connected devices worldwide.
Looking for the right partner, Yahya Bilal, CTO at Tuned Global told CRN Australia said the company ran their own “rigorous evaluation” of partners who could match the scale of changes they needed.
“SourceFuse stood out because they connected the technical proposal to a clear business case – the return we could expect, and how the architecture would support Tuned Global's growth,” he said.
“Their credentials as an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner gave us confidence in their expertise, but what made the decision compelling was that they understood what success meant for Tuned Global specifically: delivering value sooner for our customers and creating capacity for the next generation of our platform.”
The six month project allowed for Tuned Global to modernise both its core catalogue database and the customer-facing database layer, along with the processes that move music data between them.
According to Bilal the modernisation and daily content processing expanded tenfold from two million up to 20 million music tracks, while reducing onboarding timelines for large catalogues from two weeks down to just one or two days.
“Furthermore, database query responsiveness improved three to fivefold, all achieved alongside a one-third reduction in underlying infrastructure overhead,” he added.
Kamal Singh, Managing Director, SourceFuse Australia called the modernisation project a “great success”.
“Tuned Global increased its music catalogue ingestion capacity from 2 million to 20 million tracks per day, achieved three to five times faster database query performance, reduced infrastructure costs by 33 per cent and significantly reduced customer onboarding timelines,” he said.
“For SourceFuse, the real measure of success is that we didn't just modernise a database, we helped Tuned Global establish a more scalable, cloud-native data foundation that can support its next phase of growth and its ambitions around AI and increasingly intelligent music experiences.”
For Bilal, he said the biggest surprise from the project was how “uneventful” the production transition was, given the complexity underneath it.
“We made extensive changes across a large, interconnected codebase and moved the systems together without migration issues or needing to roll back,” he said.
“Once you get into a system of this scale, you appreciate just how many dependencies have to line up for that to happen.
“That outcome came from careful planning, preparation and disciplined execution on our side. For me, the standout result was being able to deliver such a substantial change with so little drama at the point that mattered most.”
Future plans
Bilal and the team at Tuned Global now wants to “accelerate agentic ingestion”.
“Systems that can help validate incoming assets, enrich metadata and route exceptions for human review,” he said.
“We also see significant opportunities in intelligent tagging and agent-assisted music curation, making large catalogues easier to understand and use.”
They want to bring personalisation to their clients’ users and advancing audio detection capabilities for their licensing partners.
“Across all of this, rights awareness and observability are essential. We need to understand how systems reach decisions and give people the controls to intervene.
“That is what building an AI-native Music Cloud Platform means to us - intelligence embedded in real workflows, with accountability built in,” he said.
Singh at SourceFuse commented on how this modernisation project will impact Tuned Global.
“The ability to scale significantly while maintaining performance gives the business much greater freedom to pursue new opportunities in verticals such as gaming, telecommunications, in-flight entertainment or health tech, without the underlying platform becoming a constraint,” he said.
“From SourceFuse's perspective, we see an opportunity to continue supporting Tuned Global as it moves from modernisation into optimisation and innovation, helping turn its data and technology foundation into measurable business value for the music industry.”
Business and modernisation
Bilal explained why the team at Tuned Global liked working with SourceFuse.
“They also had the depth of team to bring in additional resources quickly when needed,” he said.
“That combination of technical capability, responsiveness and willingness to solve unexpected problems helped our team maintain momentum through a demanding project, without losing sight of what we were building it for – a platform ready for the next phase of Tuned Global's growth.”
Looking back at the project, Singh said he would highlight that this is a great example of what can be achieved when technology modernisation is directly connected to business strategy.
“Tuned Global wasn't simply looking to reduce technical debt. It was preparing its platform for the next phase of international growth and for an increasingly AI-driven future,” he said.
“That is ultimately what modernisation should deliver – not just a better technology platform, but greater capacity for the business to innovate.”
