Apple's “best product pipeline in 25 years”

Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of internet software and services, has said the company has the “best product pipeline” he has seen in his 25 years at Apple.

Speaking at the inaugural Code Conference in San Francisco, Cue told hosts Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg that the unnamed products are “great”, although when pressed he declined to say if they were more exciting even than the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air.

There was no hint from Cue as to what the hardware may be. And while rumours abound that the company will launch the iPhone 6 and maybe an "iPhablet" this year, Cue’s comments seem to point towards a totally new range of products.

Possible candidates include the long-rumoured iWatch, a spread of health-related devices, and a smart home system.

Cue also took the opportunity to decry the current TV experience, claiming “it sucks”.

“All we have today is glorified VCRs,” he said, adding “the experience has been stuck”.

However, he didn’t shed any light on how Apple might remedy the situation, other than saying Apple TV “will continue to evolve”.

Cue appeared on stage with Jimmy Iovine, co-founder of Beats, which Apple announced it had acquired recently. Iovine said he hadn’t seen any of the coming products yet.

“I’ve been hanging out with these guys for two months, [but] when I go somewhere they put tarps over everything,” he said, although he confirmed he will get his first look at the planned products today.
