Avnet Technology Solutions has announced an Australian distribution agreement with converged infrastructure vendor Nutanix.

A statement from the distributor said that the Virtual Computing Platform – a compute and storage appliance – will be supplied to its Australian channel as a result of the new deal.

"By leveraging the Nutanix platform we can create solutions that are web-scale, agile, affordable and effortless to deploy and manage," said Darren Adams, vice president and general manager, Avnet ANZ.

Nutanix would complement Avnet's existing channels such as VMware and Citrix, according to the distie.

"Avnet's relationship with leading suppliers like Citrix will help us capitalise on our Citrix Validated Systems certified status to bring Nutanix web-scale solutions to enterprise customers," said Wayne Neich, ANZ managing director for Nutanix.

Neich said that its solutions work with all VMware hypervisors and Microsoft's Hyper-V.

Resellers can also use Nutanix technology to assist customers to move to the cloud, said the Avnet statement.

"Avnet is well-versed in making complex data centre solutions a reality for our partners," said Adams.

Avnet recently launched a pay-per-use cloud with Hitachi, while last week it farewelled global president Phil Gallagher. Nutanix has made inroads into the Australian market through pioneer integrators such as BEarena.
