CSC appoints Harvard grad to head Australian operations

CSC (ASX:CSC) has appointed Gavin Larkings to succeed Nick Wilkinson as president of its Australian operations.

Larkings recently completed the Harvard Advanced Management Program. Prior to that, he was the vice president of service delivery with CSC's Managed Services Sector (MSS) for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

He was responsible for the transformation in service delivery performance and played a major role in the continuing growth of that region, said CSC chairman, president and chief executive officer, Michael W. Laphen.

Larkings also has served CSC's vice president of service delivery in the Australian region previously, and  has held several positions of increasing responsibility since joining CSC in 1999.

Laphen said Larkings' global leadership experience made him ideally suited to lead the Australian operations.

"His background will play an important role in helping clients focus on restructuring operations and business transformation initiatives as they capitalise on the recovery of the economy.

"Larkings will also drive the introduction of emerging delivery models of Cloud Computing to ensure clients gain further efficiencies and achieve their business outcomes," added Laphen.

Larkings' career spans over 30 years and includes management roles within the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and EDS.

Former head, Wilkinson was instrumental in driving growth with a stronger focus on marketplace recognition and improved sales and marketing capabilities in Australia, said Laphen

The appointment will be effective April 6, 2010.
