Dell unveils combo AC/DC laptop adapter

By on

Dell has rolled out a new combo power adapter for its Latitude, Inspiron, and Precision line of portable PCs that jacks into traditional outlets as well as car and airplane power ports.

The US$99 AC/DC adapter works with all Latitudes, most Inspiron models, and Dell's Precision M60 mobile workstation, a high-end desktop-replacement laptop.

The 65-Watt combination adapter also supports Dell's ExpressCharge technology, which when connected to certain Dell notebooks, recharges batteries to 80 percent capacity in about an hour.

Available now in the US and western Europe, the adapter will be introduced in the Asia-Pacific region in January, and in eastern Europe in February.

Customers would be able to order the adapter separately or as an optional add-on when buying new portables.
