Distribution Central heads to ACT

Distribution Central has opened an ACT branch office and appointed Denise Stathis as branch manager.

The office became Distribution Central's fourth branch office in the country, joining facilities in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.

It also has an office in Auckland and one in Singapore. The company's head office remained in Sydney.

Nick Verykios, sales and marketing director at Distribution Central, said the new branch was the "next step" for Canberra-based channel partners.

"Prior to the appointment, we’d send people down from our business units every month.

"It got to the point where they were down there all the time doing what a local person could do.

"That branch will expand very quickly," Verykios said.

Newly-appointed Stathis worked alongside Verykios last decade when she set up the ACT branch office for distributor Lan Systems.

Verykios was general manager of Lan Systems at the time and quit in 2004, later joining Firewall Systems. In 2007, Westcon bought Lan Systems.

“I’m excited to be working with her again,” Verykios said.

How do you feel about Telstra's new services play?
Telstra has become a direct threat - we'll only work with other carriers
We can live with this - we'll still use Telstra networks
This is an opportunity for us - customers liked working with Telstra's sub-brands
This changes nothing - Telstra was always a competitor
