Insentra, Altis Consulting, Cisco, Salesforce, Atlassian have once again been named among the best companies in Australia to work for in 2019.

The 50 Best Places To Work report, published by training consultancy Great Place to Work, ranks Australia’s best employers based on employee sentiment and a guideline of policies and procedures. Companies are separated into three categories: over 1000 employees, 100 — 999 employees and under 100 employees.

The sub-100 category was led by dental company Avenue Dental, followed in second by remote access solutions vendor LogMeIn Australia, recognising its ‘LABS Rewards & Recognition Program’ that awards employees for innovation.

Channel player and Microsoft partner Insentra, last year’s No.2, landed the third-place position. CEO Ronnie Altit said developing Insentra’s culture is the top priority on his list, which includes giving staff the opportunity to give back to their community, weekly BBQs and building a collaborative work environment.

“Our culture has been consciously created from day zero and is number one on my list of priorities as the CEO but it is not my responsibility alone,” said Altit.

“Every crew member takes ownership and responsibility to foster an amazing environment and we will not let ourselves become complacent.  Our entire organisation wants to ensure we remain a great place to work no matter how large we scale.”

As seen in previous years, IT firms dominated all three categories. Trans-Tasman IT consultant Altis Consulting placed 8th, followed by BigCommerce in 11th, Rackspace in 13th, Sentrian in 18th, Macquarie Cloud services in 19th and Smokeball in 20th place.

In the 100 – 999, Australia’s latest tech unicorn Canva placed second, followed by QuickBooks owner Intuit in third, Adobe in sixth, Envato in seventh, Insight in 11th, Kronos in 12th, HTG in 14th, SAS in 16th, Nintex in 17th and eBay in 19th. The top spot in the 100 – 999 category went to healthcare firm Stryker.

As for the 1000+ category, Salesforce took out first place for the third consecutive year, and the seventh appearance on Great Place to Work’s list.

In a press release celebrating the win, Salesforce highlighted three key pillars for empowering its staff: equality, wellness, and purpose beyond profit, namely its policy of diverting one percent of profit, one percent of employee’s time and one percent of its products to charities.

“We are humbled to be selected as the #1 Best Place to Work in Australia for the second year in a row,” said Salesforce APAC EVP Ulrik Nehammer. “Listening to our employees and earning their trust is one of the highest achievements we can attain as a business, and I think this award is an incredible reflection of that.”

Other tech vendors on the 1000+ list were Cisco in second, SAP Australia in seventh and Atlassian in ninth.
