Hewlett-Packard and VMware have joined forces in the enterprise mobility arena, announcing that AirWatch mobility management products will support HP's Managed Mobility Services (MMS) as a single package.
As part of the deal, HP's MMS will feature AirWatch's Management Essentials product for rapid deployment of mobile devices in the enterprise as well as application management, without requiring additional infrastructure.
A Trusted App Access service for secure single sign-on to applications - which enables users to bring their own devices and run enterprise apps and store data safely on their own gear - is also part of the package that HP will resell.
The partnership comes after Apple and IBM in July announced a tie-up in the enterprise mobility space, with IBM to become an enterprise reseller and integrator for iPads and iPhones, and Apple offering a new enterprise-grade support option.
Microsoft is also gunning for the enterprise mobility market. The software giant is talking up its Enterprise Mobility Suite offering which includes the cloud-based Azure Active Directory and Rights Management, as well as Intune management as a solution for BYOD and SaaS scenarios for businesses.
