HTC Desire arrives in the UK

The HTC Desire is finally shipping to the UK after widespread rumours that the UK launch would be postponed. The Android-based smartphone is available through retail site Expansys.

Vodafone was forced to respond to rumours that the Amoled touch-screen device had been delayed, but the operator claimed that the problem was due to a technical error caused by a wayward email and that the handset would meet its 8 April deadline.

Vodafone has been shipping the HTC Desire to customers who had pre-ordered, but this does not necessarily indicate that the phone has actually been delivered.

3 Mobile has already said that it will be selling the phone from 20 April in the UK, but is only due to sell unbadged versions from that date.

This means that Expansys looks to be the first to offer the HTC Desire in the UK from Friday.
