itX general manager, Greg Newham, said DataCom was a logical choice to round out its virtualisation offerings from VMWare and Citrix.
“Our heritage has always been server-based computing which has rapidly evolved into virtualisation. We’re going to continue down that path and look for products that round out that solution,” he said.
DataCore produces a number of storage virtualisation and management solutions.
Newham said these products will allow itX to provide an end-to-end virtualisation offering to its reseller partners. The specialist virtualisation distributor also provides virtualisation offerings from Oracle, Sun Microsystems and Red Hat.
“We’ve really got a very good understanding and breadth of products that really support the virtualisation story,” he said.
According to Newham, virtualisation is quickly penetrating down from the enterprise into the SMB space.
"We’re already seeing a big uptake of virtualisation in smaller businesses. The virtualisation story is pretty much across the board because any organisation can get benefit from virtualising,” he said.
“If you’re going down a virtualisation path then the natural progression of that is to make sure that your storage is up to par with everything else that you’re virtualising.”
itX will be conducting reseller training and will be rolling out marketing support programs through its pipeline campaigns that provide online tools for partners to send out personalised marketing messages to their customers.
