NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Microsoft, the world's largest software maker, plans to increase the number of engineers working on its products in India to 7000 from 4000 over the next two to three years, chairman Bill Gates said on Wednesday.
Microsoft relies heavily on India's booming US$17.2 billion software services industry to source quality skills at costs far below average Western salaries.
The planned increase in the number of engineers includes those working for Microsoft's Indian software vendors such as Infosys Technologies Ltd.
