NetApp takes managed Kubernetes to the next level with VMware

Traditionally known as a storage company, NetApp is now on a mission to support every cloud, everywhere. At NetApp Insight 2019, NetApp’s Nancy Hart discussed how it’s bringing that cloud-first vision to life with new innovations around Kubernetes.

“NetApp has done a lot of work in Kubernetes and what you can now do with the Istio service mesh is federate all of these Kubernetes clusters anywhere and everywhere,” said Hart, vice president of private and hybrid cloud, DevOps and cloud infrastructure marketing at NetApp. “No developer cares about infrastructure.”

In August, NetApp took its Managed Kubernetes Service to the next level with a new partnership with VMware, allowing users to manage workloads and infrastructure across public and private environments in a single pane of glass.

NetApp extended all of the features within its public cloud, such as node pools, auto-scaling, RBAC management, cluster lifecycle, application management, enterprise registry, metrics and logging dashboards, into its managed Kubernetes offering on VMware.
