NTT Data Business Solutions Australia has named Nick Binns as its new Australian managing director after more than a year of searching.
He assumed the role in September, stepping in for NTT DATA Business Solutions Asia Pacific co-chief executive Max White, who had filled the managing director role on an interim basis.
The MD role was last held by Chris Treston until he departed in December 2015, with former NTT Data Business Solutions chief operating officer and general manager Hilary Goodier also filling in prior to White.
NTT Data is a subsidiary's of Japan's Nippon Telegraph & Telephone, which also owns Dimension Data and NTT Communications.
White said in a statement: “We purposefully selected a senior executive with a proven track record of driving results through diverse groups of stakeholders, while able to lead large teams to drive innovation and business success.”
Binns previously served as the chief executive of Brisbane-based cloud-based occupational health platform 2CRisk, a company he co-founded in 2011.
He held the position until May 2016, but is still involved with 2CRisk as a shareholder and director.
Binns told CRN that his new role was the "next stage in his journey".
“This role is a great opportunity to be part of the global NTT Data network and I’m looking forward to leading the Australian team in redefining and executing on the next phase of our growth strategy,” Binns said.
“I have a strong belief in the NTT Data Business Solutions offering; the technical expertise we offer, coupled with my team’s infectious passion and commitment to excellence means that we consistently equip our customers with the right end-to-end solutions through a single partner, to enable them to succeed in the market.”
NTT Data also named Kim Benito as general manager of client services and Yoichi Omae as senior director of business operations, both newly created positions.
Benito joins after serving as head of customer success and professional services for software company Episerver’s Asia-Pacific operations, a position she held for seven months.
Omae, meanwhile, is a veteran across the NTT Data business, holding executive and managerial roles in both Japan and the United States since 1991.
“These executive appointments are a true commitment to our clients and the Australian market, to ensure we have the right skills and capabilities to drive excellence in service delivery,” White said.
NTT Data Business Solutions was a result of NTT acquiring Extend Technologies in 2009, which White founded in 2003.
Binns told CRN the company recently landed a "sizeable" deal to implement SAP's S/4 HANA for an undisclosed customer, and is also "making headway" into the big data space.
Earlier this month, sister company Dimension Data announced that its global cloud business will be transferred over to NTT Communications as part of a restructuring.
Binns said that NTT Data Business Solutions will be integral to the new cloud partnership through its position as a top reseller for SAP.
