Tech Data to distribute Red Hat Mobile Application Platform in Australia

Tech Data has been appointed as a distributor for Red Hat's Mobile Application Platform in Australia.

The platform allows partners to develop and manage enterprise mobile applications while managing costs with services including security, collaboration and mobile backend-as-a-service.

As Avnet Technology Solutions, the distributor already partnered with Red Hat to offer the vendor's Enterprise Linux and Enterprise Virtualisation platforms.

Tech Data said it would invest additional sales and technical resources to support partners selling the platform to customers.

“Recognising mobility as one of the fastest growing next-generation technologies, Tech Data continues to invest in resources that help partners enhance and scale their mobility practices whilst driving digital transformation,” said Tech Data Asia-Pacific vice president, specialist business Naresh Desai.

"To support this innovation, partners, and their end-customers, can also utilise Tech Data’s Asia Pacific Innovation Centres to access a wide array of technical resources, tools, skills and infrastructure to accelerate their solution design capabilities.”

Red Hat Asia-Pacific vice president of partnerships and alliances Josep Garcia said: “Tech Data has demonstrated a vision, focus and commitment to providing the best tools and solutions to its partners and we are pleased to be able to work with them to help customers accelerate their mobile application development and back-end integration with Red Hat Mobile Application Platform.”

Red Hat Mobile Application Platform will be available through Tech Data in six Asia-Pacific markets, including Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Tech Data finalised its acquisition of Avnet's Technology Solutions business for US$2.6 billion this year, giving the US distribution giant a presence in Australia for the first time.
