Partner Content: Why demand mapping is now as important as partner certifications

AI is compressing sales timelines and making demand mapping a key partner capability.

As AI reshapes how customers evaluate and purchase technology, solution providers must rethink how they build capabilities and prepare for fast-moving demand.

Traditional partner enablement models centered on certifications and product training are no longer sufficient, Leema Rodrigues, channel marketing and program leader at Schneider Electric told CRN Australia Editor, Athina Mallis.

During the conversation at Schneider Electric Innovation Day 2026, Rodrigues said partner demand readiness has become critical because buyers are using AI tools for solution research, which has dramatically compressed the sales cycle.

For solution providers, the challenge is that AI-enabled customers are arriving further along the buying journey, and often reach out for pricing, specifications and technical expertise with little warning. Rodrigues said partners need stronger systems to identify emerging demand signals and close skills gaps before opportunities surface.

"Partner capability is a completely different ball game," Rodrigues said. "Before we start talking about building capabilities, I think it's important to also build a system around mapping that intent and demand and catching on to those signals in the market."

Rather than relying on a single vendor relationship, Schneider Electric is encouraging an ecosystem-led approach that brings together alliance partners, specialists and traditional IT channel players. "It has to be a system of bringing the ecosystem together to develop proper capability programs," Rodrigues said.

The company is also investing in tools aimed at helping partners improve consultative selling and accelerate customer engagement. These include sustainability-focused carbon calculators, e-commerce support programs, content syndication services and configuration tools designed to help partners respond to customer requirements more quickly.

Rodrigues added that partner success in the AI era will depend on discoverability and credibility as much as technical expertise. "Credibility is even more important in that discoverability journey," she said.
