Spotlight blog: Leader Australia
Company overview
Thirty years ago, Leader was a local distributor selling dial-up modems. Today we are one of Australia’s largest Private & Australian Owned ICT distributors, supporting16,000 partners across 5 states: resellers, MSPs and integrators who are no longer just selling products, but building service businesses on cloud.
That shift has changed what distribution has to be. A partner moving a customer to cloud telephony or modern workplace is not asking us to ship a box — they are asking us to carry them through migration, provisioning, billing and the support call at 6pm on a Friday. Everything we have built over the past few years has been aimed at that.
Customer success story
When Torrens to Darlinton (T2D) Tunnel project which is major $16B infrastructure project started working with 802 Group on UniFi Solutions – Leader was there to support with local specialist experts in Adelaide, local stock for 15 min pickup or 2 hour metro freight, pre-sales & even onsite specialist support. This was a game changer that helped enable 802 to secure the deal-reg blocking out Cisco, Aruba & many of the traditional large players. Our local presence with technical resources, stock, warranty & support + coupled with rapid fast delivery – and our exclusive access to UI Care & the Enterprise range made 802 the strongest partner for the T2D project. Stock + Support + Speed - is the foundation of what makes Leader the #1 partner for the IT Channel in Australia.
Industry expertise and innovation
Most distributors resell someone else’s cloud. We also operate our own. Through BreezeConnect, our telco arm, partners deliver voice, SIP, NBN, mobile and Microsoft Teams calling under their own brand, through a portal they control, with support based here rather than offshore. That means when a partner’s customer has a problem, the person who can fix it works for us.
Around that, the work is unglamorous and it is the work that matters: getting partners certified, getting provisioning and billing right so cloud margin does not leak, and keeping security in the conversation from the first design rather than bolting it on at the end. On AI, we are less interested in the demo than in what has to be true underneath it — clean data, sound identity, a network and security posture that can carry it. That is where we are putting our enablement effort, because it is where partners will win or lose the AI conversation with their customers.
Future vision
Three things will define the next few years for our partners. AI will move from pilot to production, and the businesses that win will be the ones who made the boring infrastructure decisions early. Security will stop being a separate sale and become a condition of every technology decision. And the line between IT, cloud, security and physical infrastructure will keep dissolving — the customer wants one outcome, not four vendors.
None of that is easy for a partner to navigate alone, which is the whole point of what we do. Our job is to make the next step obvious and the one after it possible.
