Okta selects Dan Mountstephen as its new SVP and GM for APJ
According to Mountstephen, the channel becomes a “true force multiplier” when done right.
Okta has appointed Dan Mountstephen to SVP and general manager for the APJ region, where one of his focuses will be around scaling go-to-market execution.
He will also be responsible for setting regional strategy, and accelerating partner-led growth.
Mountstephen told CRN Australia his focus at Okta is on building deep, committed partnerships where they “invest together, win together, and grow together”.
“That means clear ownership, strong enablement, and a shared ambition to lead the market,” he said.
“Done right, the channel becomes a true force multiplier, and I’m excited about what we can unlock with our partners.”
Mountstephen said the channel is “central” to how they scale impact.
“The market opportunity is real, and partners are the fastest way to extend trust, reach, and relevance with customers across the region,” he said.
“When the channel works well, it doesn’t just support growth, it accelerates it by shaping conversations early, influencing decisions, and delivering outcomes customers care about.”
Looking at Australia, he said it is one of the most “mature markets” in the region when it comes to cybersecurity and regulatory awareness.
“Boards and executives here clearly understand that identity is a business risk, not a purely technical problem,” Mountstephen said.
“The opportunity now is to move beyond compliance and toward confidence. Organisations are increasingly frustrated with a grab bag of legacy identity tools, directory-centric architectures, and point solutions that don’t scale.”
Looking at agentic AI impacting the industry, Mountstephen said the conversation has shifted to harder questions.
“Putting all identities human, non-human, and AI agents in one place, managing access simply, scaling up and down cleanly, and ensuring everything is properly governed while delivering a seamless user and digital experience,” he said.
“Australia is well positioned to lead the region in identity-led security across financial services, healthcare, education, and government. And Okta is uniquely positioned to support that shift, with a true identity platform built for modern enterprises.”
Mountstephen will be based in Singapore.
