Ingram Micro receives Frontier Microsoft Distributor status

A “defined and disciplined” process that's aligned to strategic outcomes across AI, cloud and cybersecurity.

Ingram Micro has obtained the Microsoft Frontier Distributor status, this designation recognises distributors that meet the tech giant’s standards for performance, enablement and partner support.

According to Microsoft, this designation has a focus on supporting the small and medium-sized business segment to scale with consistency. It is designed to create differentiation and improve reseller visibility into trusted distributors who can accelerate cloud and AI growth.

The distributor said this designation reflects Ingram Micro’s ability to help partners move from AI experimentation to real‑world execution at scale, spanning cloud, security and services.

Kaaren Lewis, director – advanced solutions, cloud and cyber, Ingram Micro Australia told CRN Australia that this designation is a defined and disciplined process aligned to strategic outcomes and requiring world class capabilities across cloud, AI and security.

“It’s not achieved without focus, investment, expertise and measure,” she noted.

“The benchmarks include meeting a strict distributor capability score, proven digital cloud commerce platforms, scalable support with low escalation rates, robust security and compliance controls, repeatable partner enablement and AI skilling programs, and validated operational consistency confirmed through an independent third‑party audit.”

Speaking to CRN Australia, Hope McGarry, VP and country CEO at Ingram Micro Australia said it was a “rigorous process” for them to go through.

She noted that the application took nine months and wasn’t just handed to them.

“It was months of submissions and being able to demonstrate our own internal AI capabilities around the platform,” she said.

“To demonstrate that we have the right capabilities, the right skill sets, the right tools, the right platform to be able to support our partners to become Frontier firms. For us to get that global recognition was really amazing.”

Lewis explained that the Microsoft Frontier Distributor designation is a clear endorsement of the role Ingram Micro plays in Microsoft’s next phase of partner‑led growth in Australia and worldwide.

“It reflects the increasingly strategic role distribution plays in an AI‑first market and recognises our proven and growing ability to enable partners to operationalise complex Frontier capabilities into solutions they can deploy, support, and monetise,” she said.

Lewis explained the benefits this new designation has for Ingram Micro’s partners.

“The Frontier Distributor designation unlocks a range of Microsoft enablement benefits that accrue to our partners, multiplying gains across the full growth spectrum, including focuses on education and enablement to execution.”

Lewis said being named a Frontier Distributor further validates the trust Ingram Micro’s partners put in them every day to operate at that level of maturity, governance and technical depth.

“At an Australian market level, this designation reinforces Ingram Micro’s position as the conduit between Microsoft’s global AI ambition and the practical realities facing local partners,” she said.

“Australian MSPs and resellers are under pressure to embed AI, security and cloud modernisation into their operations and services, all while managing risk, compliance, complexity and skills shortages.”

Lewis ended, “Frontier Distributor status recognises the continued innovation and investments we are making in enablement, platform, cyber frameworks and AI readiness needed to reduce friction and help our partners move and grow faster while managing risk.”
