MSP ASI Solutions has bought Insicon Cyber to bolster its security offerings for its customers.

Insicon Cyber will continue to operate under its own name as an ASI Solutions company, led by co-founders Matt Miller, CEO and Greg Bunt, CISO.

All Incison staff will remain in the business as the company will operate as an ASI Solutions company.

“We’ve partnered with a great team, and the whole point is to back them and help them grow,” according to Nathan Lowe, managing director at ASI Solutions.

“Over time that means more opportunity for the team, not less, and we’re already looking at expansion opportunities across Australia and New Zealand.”

Speaking to CRN Australia, Lowe said for the past 40 years, the business has grown with what their customers need, and right now they need cybersecurity.

“It’s part of how they run their business, and we wanted to deliver it at scale,” he said.

“Insicon Cyber gives us a specialist team with real depth, a SOC and leadership we already trust. Bunt has been working with us as acting CISO for the last few months, so we know first hand how good the team is. It was a natural step for both businesses.”

Through this acquisition, ASI can offer a full cybersecurity service including advisory, assessment, and MDR.

Lowe said, “Our customers get a dedicated cyber business behind the services they already buy from us, and Insicon Cyber’s customers get the scale, reach and support of a much bigger organisation.

“We can also wrap security around everything we already do across infrastructure, cloud, end user and managed services, instead of treating it as a bolt-on.”

Lowe and his team are open to additional acquisitions.

“In security, we’ll keep growing the practice with our existing customers, and we’re open to expanding the team through mergers and acquisitions as we scale Insicon Cyber across Australia and New Zealand,” he said.

Across ASI Solution’s other lines of business, Lowe said they’re looking for businesses that align with their goals and are run by “good operators”.

“The right culture and the right people matter more to us than anything else. We’re disciplined about how we do it and who we partner with, and we’re always happy to have the conversation,” he said.

Lowe said he is seeing a shift in the cyber landscape where attacks are more frequent and sophisticated. He said the conversations have shifted from “what do we do?” to “who can help us do it?”.

“Customers are feeling pressure from several directions: the threat itself, insurers, compliance requirements and their own boards or owners,” he said.

“Many also don’t have the in-house skills or the 24/7 coverage to manage it themselves, so they’re looking for a trusted partner to take it on.”

Lowe said he is thankful for Miller and Bunt’s work behind the scenes during this transition period.

“We’re an Australian-owned business and we think long term,” he said.

“This is about building something significant in cyber for Australian and New Zealand customers, and in security and compliance we’re only getting started.”
